It was great to be back at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) to present StackPath’s Edge capabilities and see gaming’s biggest innovators in person! Our booth was overflowing with people showcasing their speed and skills on Speed Freak – our customized hand-eye coordination game that tests reaction times. While most people scored in the 200–300-point range, we had a top score of 650! Latency was not an issue for this player! He and the other Speed Freak hourly winners also won a custom hat with a metal “Games Don’t Cause Violence, Latency Does.” badge on it. The hats were a big hit, as was the other SP// merch. We completely ran out of StackPath gamer shirts, gaming chopsticks, and laser-cut bottle openers.
Gaming companies around the world—large and small—are using StackPath to achieve the lowest latency possible with auto-scaling VMs, containers, and our award-winning content delivery network. Our edge can be used to store large file downloads, patches or updates, and content closer to the end-users which provides a better faster, experience. Our (points of presence (PoPs) are strategically located in urban areas globally, and process over 65 Tbps! Developers can deploy game applications and services right at the edge for low-latency connections to end-users, critical to providing superior multiplayer, mobile, and Extended Reality (XR) experiences.
My colleagues and I enjoyed meeting with developers to discuss how you can accelerate, protect, and customize in-game content without decreasing performance, and control how and where your assets are delivered. We look forward to helping more developers with backend infrastructure and our private network and hope you can stop by our booth at GDC again next year!
