StackPath Propel Startup Spotlight: StriveCDN
StriveCDN is a member of StackPath Propel, a program for early and growth stage startups that need the power of our network and security to enable them to grow in secure, fast environments.
StriveCDN is a peer to peer (P2P) networking startup based in Germany and has been working with the Propel team since February this year. StriveCDN was founded by Alexander Schaefer and Christopher Probst, who met while at university in their doctoral programs. It was founded on the premise that not only is P2P the best way to overcome the problems of modern network architecture but also that it is a great way to equalize traffic delivery within the entire internet. In order to deliver on that vision, they are partnering with StackPath. Out of the CDNs they have evaluated, StackPath’s speed and pricing were the most attractive as they develop their presence in the OTT market.
Strive’s founders have expressed to the team that without the help and support of StackPath, their project would have consumed much more time and money. Thanks to the Propel Startup Program, they were able to start with an incredible infrastructure and very competitive pricing within weeks. Alexander wrote the team stating,
…especially for large events, this model is very easy to apply. All we need to know is the amount of viewers and the duration of the event. Now instead of paying for traffic or bandwidth, only the consumed view-hours (one viewer who watches a video stream for 60 minutes) are charged.
By utilizing Propel, they will launch something they are calling Playout, which generates beautiful live streams in multiple quality levels to cover each customers’ bandwidth capacities, provides a world-spanning CDN infrastructure and integrates highly upscaling P2P video delivery technology to build an unlimited resource of bandwidth and traffic. And it’s all powered by Propel.
Utilizing their Propel credits is allowing StriveCDN to get to market faster and will be a key component of the company’s launch success. Use cases like this one create a lot of excitement for the Propel team as we continue to search for our best-in-class, next-generation partners.
