Did you miss our “Serverless at the Edge” webinar on July 9? Here’s your bite-sized recap.
Serverless is compute service that executes functions on an as-needed basis. However, there are still servers somewhere executing these same functions. Now, you’re probably thinking the term “Serverless” is a misnomer, right? Well, “less” refers to how developers spend less time on backend development and more time writing application code. After the code is pushed, the service scales on-demand and are fully managed in a single cloud data center. This usually can take an average of 70 milliseconds*, which doesn’t seem like much, but to an end-user this can make a world of a difference in this age of instant gratification. That could mean the difference between seeing a spinning wheel of loading death or true real-time content for your user to engage with.
Edge Serverless takes the traditional “serverless” concept a step further by allowing developers to deploy scripts to data centers located in downtown metro areas all over the world, with one click (or API call) all within 50 milliseconds. Faster, more flexible and scalable, data reaches the StackPath platform up to 2.6 times faster than central cloud provider data centers and returns data 37 milliseconds faster than competing cloud provider, Google.
Below are a few ways our customers have used our services.
